Prepping Your Skin for Your Wedding

We don’t need to tell you how important it is to look the best you can on your big day. With all your friends and family coming, and everyone else making the effort to put on as magical a wedding as possible, you likely already know.

As a mobile Asian bridal makeup artist, Fazila travels to Manchester and a number of other nearby towns to provide her services – and she’s heard her fair share of nightmare skin stories from her clients. Spots appearing before the big day, under-eye bags which can’t be covered up – there’s no problem she hasn’t heard of.

In the days leading up to your wedding, there are a number of things you can do to give your skin the best chance at perfection – and from there, Fazila can take care of the rest.

Here are her skin preparation tips for those brides-to-be looking for the perfect finish:

In the lead up to the big day, get plenty of it. Don’t overwork yourself and become exhausted, and try to keep your stress levels to the absolute minimum. Lack of sleep will show in the form of bags, and stress can sometimes lead to the appearance of spots and blemishes.

If you have any money left over from your wedding budget, try to get a facial treatment a week before the ceremony. This will help to firm you up and work out any lingering blemish-inducing bacteria, and also leave enough time for your skin to feel the full benefit of the treatment before you have your wedding makeup applied.

Hydrate and Moisturise

Don’t let your skin dry out in the run-up to your big day. Apply moisturising products when you get up in the morning, and in the evening, to keep your face hydrated. Also remember to drink plenty of water to help keep your skin healthy.

Combat those Lip Cracks and Blemishes

Your lips are going to be an integral part of your wedding look, so take care of them. Apply lip balms if they begin to crack, and finish with a petroleum jelly to prevent roughness.
