It’s that time of year. The sun is out, the cold weather has subsided, and that can only mean one thing – Asian wedding season!
During the summer months, many of us will be attending the wedding of a friend, or even tying the knot ourselves. But whether it’s your big day, or that of a close friend or relative, you’ll want to ensure that you look your best, and that means getting the right look when it comes to your makeup.
There is a fine art to Asian Bridal Makeup, and a number of things to take into consideration when deciding on a makeup strategy. Here’s what you or your MUA should be looking at before diving in with the blusher and mascara:
As any professional MUA will tell you, face shape means everything when deciding on what makeup to use and where. For example, for sharper face shapes, blusher works better when it is applied in such a way as to soften cheek bones, and blend into the skin tone gradually. While for rounder faces, an MUA might break up the shape of it with a sharper makeup scheme, by using a deeper shade of blusher.
It’s imperative that your outfit doesn’t clash with your makeup. So, when the MUA comes knocking, or even if you’ve decided to get a friend or do your makeup yourself, be ready – get into the outfit you intend to wear to the ceremony, so that you or your MUA can take into the colours and tones of it, and decide on a colour scheme which complements what you’re wearing.
Does your Asian wedding, or the ceremony you’re attending, have a specific theme? If it is set against a very particular backdrop, then you should take this into account too. For instance, if the wedding is taking place on a beach, you’ll need a dramatic makeup scheme which goes with the outdoor, sun-kissed surroundings. Conversely, if the wedding in question is taking place at a country manor, then a subtle, more classical approach might be more suitable.
